Alden is a Canadian co-op student in the process of a bachelor's degree in Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is currently working in the Aizenberg lab with Raphael Kay on a "liquid windows" approach to sustainable design and energy management. He has an interest in optics, and with his background in nanotechnology, he works on obtaining novel optical effects with the combination of materials and fluids.

In his spare time, he enjoys socializing with friends, rock climbing, and exploring new places.
