Sophie Hutter is an undergraduate student at Harvard University from Loudoun County, Virginia. Her research interests span bio-inspired design, materials science, and the sustainability of energy and infrastructure systems.

Since high school, Sophie has conducted research on data center sustainability through mathematical modeling, as well as life-cycle and techno-economic analyses of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. She has pursued this work under the mentorship of Dr. Yehia Khalil of Yale University and Dr. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer of George Mason University.

At Harvard, Sophie joined the Aizenberg Lab with support from the Salata Institute, where she works under the guidance of Dr. Jonathan Grinham and Leonard Palmer. Her current research focuses on upcycling sheep wool for regenerative building retrofits.
