Michael Gee
Michael, originally from Perth, Western Australia, graduated from UC Berkeley in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During his time at Berkeley, he was mentored by Professors Ashok Gadgil and Thomas E. McKone from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research aimed to develop cost-effective technologies to remove contaminants from drinking water, focusing on substances like Poly and Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and heavy metals. In addition to his water quality research, Michael investigated the combined effects of pesticides, poor drinking water, and other stressors on agricultural communities in eastern California. He also conducted fieldwork addressing water scarcity issues in Morocco.
Currently, Michael is working on slippery and radiative cooling materials for fully passive condensation devices under the guidance of Professor Frank Keutsch and Professor Joanna Aizenberg. Outside of the laboratory, Michael is a lower-order batsman and fast bowler for the Harvard Cricket Club and co-leads the Graduate Student Tennis Club.
