Atmospheric Water Harvesting
✨ Atmospheric Water Harvesting
It is estimated that approximately two thirds of world's population will suffer from the water stress within ten years. In arid regions, atmospheric water collection is an unconventional approach, partly because existing technologies are not efficient enough. Yet it represents an important water source. Atmospheric Water Harvesting (AWH) can provide drinking water in places that are not connected to the centralized water network, such as relief in disasters, remote villages, military expenditures and other critical programs. The evolution of AWH can also enable people to live comfortably in arid and dehydrated areas and reduce the water shortage crisis facing billions.
Controlling condensation is fundamental to water harvesting systems, desalination, thermal power generation, air conditioning, distillation towers, and numerous other applications. For any of these, it is essential to design surfaces that enable droplets to grow rapidly and to be shed as quickly as possible.
